So, according to the Bureau of National Statistics, in 2019 the share of households with access to the network was 90%. While five years ago the figure was at 82%. The main goals of using the Internet at home are communication (instant messaging), posting information (75% of respondents), downloading films, music, games (63.6% of respondents). 12% of respondents reported that they read online newspapers, magazines, and e-books. For educational purposes, 14.7% use the world network, 4.6% of respondents take online courses. In Nur-Sulatna, the indicator differs from the average in Kazakhstan - in 49% of metropolitan households, family members study on the Internet.
Only in every fifth family (19%) use the Internet to buy or order goods and services. This process is most active in large cities - Nur-Sultan (29%), Almaty (27%), the least - in East Kazakhstan (8.5%), Almaty, Atyrau (11%) regions. Most often, Kazakhstanis buy products through e-trade from domestic sellers (77%). A third of the families surveyed make online orders at trading platforms in the CIS countries.
In the ranking of the most popular goods bought through the network, clothing, shoes and sports products are in first place. 60% of respondents confirmed this leadership. Food is ordered through the network 29%. In the capital, Mangistau region, over 70% of respondents used to order food online, then in the Turkestan region - 53%, and in Kyzylorda - only 3%, in Shymkent - 5%, in East Kazakhstan region - 6%. Other popular online purchases are medicines (19%), household goods (15%), films, music (14%).
Half of the respondents said that they spend 5-25 thousand tenge on purchases online per month. Every fourth family - 25-50 thousand tenge. Over this amount, 12.7% of respondents post for goods from the Internet. 40% of families confirmed that they pay for purchases by bank card or cash to the courier on delivery. 22% of households use the payment service by bank transfer.
The number of families who experience any problems with online orders is small. Only 5% of families of Kazakhstanis complained about the low speed of delivery, 3% of households faced technical problems of resources when paying. 2.5% of respondents received poor-quality or damaged goods. About fraud on the network (the product was not received, abuse of credit card data was recorded) say 0.9%.
At the same time, the questionnaire showed that 80% of respondents do not order anything through the network, since they have no need for this. 17% prefer to shop offline, and 6% replied that they simply do not know how to do it. 2% of respondents do not trust online stores and do not have information on how to return the goods.
